The building was inspired by a teacher whose students had difficulty entering the “lean” guided route for the project. The adjustable jack is designed to hold different sizes of LED strips and wires in the best position to solder them together. A small silicone strip cut from the bracelet provides a heat-resistant surface for soldering.

The jig is made of four layers of laser cut acrylic. A layer consists of two sliding pieces with a gap between them. Parts can be moved to place and hold LED strips of different widths. There is also a small laser cutting cable guide that can be adjusted to hold cables of different sizes at different distances. The following video shows how to set the guide distance and how to install and secure LED strips and cables:

The SVG file that can be downloaded from the link above should be cut from 1/8 ″ (3.2 mm) and 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) acrylic. There are four layers on the jig. The top and bottom layers are made of 1/8 acrylic and the two middle layers are made of 16/1 acrylic. The text of the design file tells which layer is to be engraved (printed) and which layer is to be cut.

When you have cut the pieces of the layer shown above, remove the protective paper and collect the jig from the bottom layer (layer 1), go up. The guide wires are very small, so be careful not to get lost when removing them from the laser cutting bed.

The first layer has two underlayments, four nylon bases and four M3 nylon beads. Place a thin layer of acrylic 2 on top of layer 1, glue the base to the hexagonal hole in layer 2, and wrap part of the base through the hole in layer 1. Place the nut at the bottom of the base to secure it. And as shown in the picture, repeat with the other three modes.

Next, cut out the part of the silicone wristband that is only in the rectangular cut in layer 2. Use two small pieces of Capton tape to secure both ends of the silicone tape as shown above.

Place the wire guide in the two parallel slots at the desired distance, then connect layer 3 (for two separate pieces) on top of layer 2.

Insert the four long screws shown up into the liver. Insert the outer rails of the top layer through the screws. The parts are not symmetrical, so if the outer edges are not parallel to the other livers, install the rails in different directions. Then, according to the second picture, put four latches on the screws and fasten them in place with four M3 nuts. Tighten the nuts so that the latches do not move easily, but can still be rotated in different positions.

Then remove the remaining two pieces of acrylic lid and 2 mm adhesive foam. Cut a small rectangle (8 mm by 10 mm) from the foam inside the carved box on the lid. Make sure that the foam does not spread beyond the etched area, otherwise it will interfere with the ability to close the LED strip and cable. Stick the foam on the acrylic pieces, inside the etched lines.

Place the cover pieces, foam side down, on the bases so that they are in the top layer between the guide rails. You may need to shake the rails slightly, but the parts should be positioned at the same level as the outer guides. After this step, the assembly is completed.

You can adjust the space for LED strips of different widths. To do this, loosen the clamp retaining nuts slightly and pull the Layer 3 in or out with your fingers so that the LED strip guide is wide enough to hold, but not wide enough to move the strip around. . When the distance is good, close the nuts again.

Cable guides of different sizes have slots with different distances for the best cable position for different LED strips. To remove the cable guides, simply remove the two cover caps from the top layer, turning the jack so that the cable guides come out of their grooves. Then turn the right jack upwards, insert the new cable guide into the slot, and replace the cover parts.

The video at the beginning of this guide shows you how to use it to install and secure LED strips and cables. Once the guide is set to the width of the LED strip, you can attach the strip to the slot under the cover by slightly lifting the cover piece and pulling the strip. Once the bar is in place, press on the piece of door to secure the foam of the bar in place, and turn the latches to hold the door down.

In addition, align the cables one after the other and slide them along the jig with the cable guide. If it is positioned correctly, press down on the door and turn the latches in place to hold them in place.

If the LED strip is so thick that it does not fit in the slot of the piece door, you can laser cut extra small grooves to fit under the fasteners. This allows you to lock the door piece in a slightly higher position. For this tutorial you will need a soldering iron and soldering iron with flux, heat gun, hand tools, professional multi-conductor wiring and single and multi-conductor wires.

Depending on the type of LED strip, you will be working with a thermal shrink tube and a multi-channel LED controller, and the corresponding power supply and LED strip are selected.

You must first proceed and remove about one to eight inches of insulation on the cable. A traditional cable can work well for dual-conductor cables, but when you start using RGB and RGBW LEDs, a multi-conductor cable will do it faster, but also keep the appearance of the cable clean. It has.

The butane iron power probe comes with a set of various secondary tools for soldering. All parts of the iron itself are very durable.

After removing the jacket on the wire, you should go ahead and tin the tin. So, you want to apply heat to the wire and then mix the solder in the wire.

Continue in the next step and tin the soldering irons of the LED strip. So at this point, you are now ready to solder the wire to the LED strip. But before doing this, be sure to slide the heat shrink tubing through the wire. If you start from the middle, it is easier to organize what you do.

When soldering wires to the LED strip, be sure to pay attention to the colors that are soldered to each pad on the strip. It will be important later if you connect the cable to the LED controller.

When using heat to reduce heat, do not overheat. The power strip can also be used by twisting it around the visible area.

Excessive heat can damage LED strip diodes. Finally, connect the LED cable to the controller to test it.

Then, plug in your power adapter. It looks like it could be used. Often, customers ask if it is recommended to use solderless LED connectors.

Currently, while they are comfortable, we do not recommend them because they are not as reliable as traditional solder, especially in important applications.

Check out our article on use for recommended flux types. You only need a small flux in the area where you want the solder to be installed.

The waterproof LED strip will be soldered like a regular LED strip, except that you must first cut or remove the waterproof layer. When done, you can apply clear silicone to the work area.
