This can be done with certain brands of keyboard brushes and that radioactive stain that soaks in and comes out from between the cracks, but I’m not convinced when a regular toothbrush or brush can do a perfect job. Rub it between each key, go pretty deep, and you can transfer almost any visible fabric. You should also be able to pick up quite a bit of dirt lurking underneath.
The classic cloth to be installed under the sink is just as valuable for cleaning the keyboard as it is for cleaning the rest of the computer and peripherals. Even completely dry, repeated rubbing is enough to clean the nasty matte skin layer that can form on the shells or bottom of the keys after a few months of use. If the stains are stubborn, apply a small amount of multi-surface polish to the cloth, rub it into the dirty parts of the keyboard, then rub with a dry cloth until everything is shiny again.
It pretty much covers it for overhaul, but if you can remove the keyboard covers, it’s better to take it off and clean the keyboard properly. Removing the keys gives you much better access to the dirtiest part of the table, the space between the key cover and body, and makes it easier – if more time-consuming – to clean and polish the heavy edges of each key cover.
On most mechanical keyboards, you can remove each keycap—including the big ones like the space bar and the Enter key—by pulling them toward you with your fingers. If you want to use your delicate little fingers more easily, you can alternatively use a special key puller; it’s available online, but it often comes packaged with new discs. However, before you start, take a picture of your keyboard or find a picture of the model online. it can help you reinstall them in the correct place later.

Once all the keys are down, you can use compressed air, your lungs, a brush, or a dry cloth to remove all the crumbs and hair underneath. This is the area where I actually like to use compressed air because the switches have very sharp corners to hold the cloth, but it’s still worth going over with a solid cleaner to wipe off every last bit of grime.
If you really want to get serious about cleaning your keyboard, you can soak any removed keycaps in soapy water before reattaching them. It’s less bumpy than it looks: it both disinfects key shells and softens any sweet layers of skin you may have left on them. There are no electronics in the caps of the keys, so just soak them in water for a few minutes and then leave them on a kitchen towel to dry completely.
If the keyboard shell is really dirty, you may need to give it a quick wipe with a dry cloth before reattaching, but it’s easier to polish the shell if it’s not attached to the keyboard.
