I know the new headset / headset can be very cheap, so if you are looking for a quick solution that does not require time, patience and investment in some tools, this is not for you. My goal is to teach you to weld with a practical and practical activity designed for beginners that also solves a common problem.

I think learning how to fix a broken headset is great for learning to weld for several reasons. Broken headphones are common, so you or someone you know probably already have them for practice. Also, they are already broken; no harm, no guilt if you can not fix them.
Also, in addition to the welding equipment that you will already have or use a lot in the future, the only component you need to buy is the headphone jack which is easy to obtain and very economical. Everything else should be in your home.
Another great thing to start with this project is the durability of the headphone jack. You can burn it, weld it, desolder it and hit it any other way and it should still work if you do it right. Perfect for learning! Expensive electrical components that can be shortened or damaged if things go wrong are not where you want to start.
Cut the old headphone jack as close to the base as you can. Then remove about a quarter of an inch from the protective cover to expose the wires.

Colored cables are audio cables. Red is usually the right thing to do, but since there are no DERP standards around the world, this is not always the case. Now. Let’s take a look at the headphone jack. We will use a Tip-Ring-Sleeve (TRS) connector. For a headset, we would love the Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve (TRRS), but as I said, we can still use the TRS jack to fix phones for any kit!

If you look at the diagram below. We will connect the red wire with the ring, the blue / green wire with the top and the ground with the sleeve.
We need to insert the right wires through the right holes. You can do them all now, but I suggest you do them one by one because they tend not to want to get stuck.
Start with the ground wires and run them through the sleeve from the inside. You may need to cut the exposed cable in half if the end is severely torn. You can also try cutting it with wire cutters. Once you have inserted it through the hole in the sleeve, it is time for welding.
If you have not already done so, you need to connect the welder to the power supply to start heating. Each iron will take a different time, but 4 minutes should do the trick if the iron does not have a useful light! This tool will be very hot, as if the metal is hot, so be very careful.

Important: when you are actually welding, a little smoke will be generated. Make sure the fan blows or sucks smoke from your face as it is poisonous.
Important: while waiting for the iron to reach the proper temperature, look at the cord. You need to make sure that the cable continues to touch the sheath itself during, during and after the welding process. This connection is everything!
When the iron is hot enough, grab it and apply it to the cord and plug it in for a second. Then touch the soldering iron, the plug and the wire at the same time. You do not want too much, because if you want, the plug housing will not fit.
The applied solder must dry very quickly. Wait a while, as the plug will be hot and try to gently pull the cord. Do not move.

Now, it might be a good idea to try things out. Wait for the plug to cool, place it on the phone and play music. Then grab the remaining two wires and touch them with the tip and joints of the ring. You need to hear the sound coming through the phones.
If you hear something, you will be very excited !! All you have to do now is repeat the threading and soldering steps on the remaining wires.
If you can not get any sound, screw the remaining two wires well and move the ground wire. If this sounds good to you, it means that you have lost the connection while welding the floor and you will need to heat the solder and remove it with a soldering pump or wick. Then you should try again.
Once you have connected all the wires and tested it to make sure everything works, you need to hit your back. The rest is easy!
