When I came across this “before” shot of our master bathroom, it occurred to me that I completely neglected to share my bathtub remodeling project with Yale.
Not having a lot of budget to work with at the time, the first thing I did was not only paint over the beautiful ivy that adorned the focal wall, but I also decided to refinish the beige plinth. Decided which was our bathtub.
Now clearly we’ve done a lot on time and budget for this space (which you can read about in our bathroom remodel post), but for the time being, today I’m just going to review the durability of epoxy tub refinishing.

In our case, we needed to demo, howl, completely new plumbing, and even account for new floors and possible subfloors (since I wanted a freestanding tub).
If I had known that a complete bathroom renovation would be possible for us four years in the future, I would probably have done my own, investing nothing in the space unless I could afford what I really wanted. . But without the crystal ball, I was trying to use some of the resources I had at the time.
Four years ago, we didn’t have the budget for new flooring or new plumbing, so we figured it was a fair compromise to have our bathtubs professionally painted. And with the ten-year warranty given to us by the Presence company, we felt more comfortable with our decision.
While I’m not entirely sure how (or when) these episodes came to be, I do wonder how soap and shampoo (which leaked from bottles) ended up painted over time.

I won’t lie… I don’t clean the sink very often, so I don’t know how long these rings have been in there.
In short, I think professional sink repainting is a great solution if you’re trying to avoid demo or plumbing costs.
But… am I going to have something like this in my house forever? Given that the company has only been behind its product for ten years, probably not.

Well… with all the preparatory work I’ve seen by contractors (not to mention my past experience using epoxy paint), I stand behind my decision to hire this particular project.
