Bravado aside, Beats by Dre headphones have always been an attractive buy. At first they only came in two colorways, black and red and white and red, but with the new versions, more colors have hit the markets, from lime green to Boston Red Sox blue and red. Beats by Dre also offers exclusive colors that only certain celebrities have, making these headphones even more desirable. When playing music and noise canceling at the same time, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better solution. If you want to hear your surroundings, you can press the Beats button on the right earcup, which mutes the music and disables the cancellation in a very elegant way.
You can snap each earbud in to increase the size, and each time you do, you’ll hear a nice click to let you know it’s increasing. On the USB socket, the dots stretch and stay in place, the plastic shines, and the color in the painting really stretches. Small things like these make the Beats by Dre Studio headset much more pleasant to look at and use. Overall, things are a lot tighter this time around compared to the first generation.
The lightweight design of the new Beats by Dre Studio makes it easy to use. The ear pads are soft and feel good too; these ear pads, or “ear pads” as I call them, are the best I’ve ever worn. The band has a large cushion wrapped around it and all three things together create a nice feel. But there’s one thing in the comfort department that keeps the Beats from achieving perfection. The ear pads can easily heat up and cause discomfort when you engage in any activity that generates heat. I’m not talking about a full workout, but a quick walk around the mall can cause a drop. The ear cushions are not ventilated at all, they are designed primarily for comfort, and it shows. Beats by Dre Studio headphones, on the other hand, are built for long-term wear. Overall, I can wear the comfort for several hours, even outside.

Without going into it, the Wireless Beats are designed for bass. When you put them on, you instantly hear the music, the bass and even every note. Even if the Beats don’t produce accurate sound, they still provide a pleasant experience. The truth is, most music listeners don’t even know the difference between midrange and treble when it comes to their favorite song, and frankly, it doesn’t matter.
The lyrics confirm what I hear when I listen to my favorite songs. My subjective experience is that the new Beats are extremely heavy on the bass, while the treble often has issues that sometimes reach higher levels.
With the previous pair of Studios, the bass was exaggerated and even thunderous at times, but I can happily confirm that is not the case this time around. The bass is smooth and builds up only when necessary. But, as with many other headphones, how you feel about a pair always depends on what you hear.
When you listen to Ellie Goulding – Lights, around the 50 second mark, when the bass starts to dance, you can really appreciate how it works on the bass, without the lumpy, bumpy feeling you get from the first generation. Also, during the chorus she sings from two channels in different keys, you can easily distinguish the two keys in each ear.

I tried to hear a more vocal form of Collide more intensely Leona Lewis, that’s when you can feel a little discomfort.
