Ipod Touch 5th Generation Screen Replacement Guide
Before you replace components or take your iPod touch apart Now is a good time to clean the frame of all the old dirt and glass shards that might be stuck in the frame.
If you’re not sure, remove all dust, debris, and glass before you fit the new screen. It will not fit. And you will have to go back and clean again. in other words Make sure you remove all debris and glass before continuing. Use a vacuum to remove excess dirt if necessary.
At the top of the iPod touch is a retaining clip that holds the rear camera in place. Use a spatula or metal spatula to lift and remove. Set aside to reassemble.
There is a small piece of copper tape. At the bottom of the camera’s shipping case, which is attached to the bottom of the logic board shield. Using a metal spatula and fingers, gently peel the tape back.

Once you have removed the 3 screws on the top of the logic board. We can continue to open the part of the logic board.
You don’t want to delete the entire logic board but only the topmost part. Please be careful at this step. This is because the logic board is fragile and may break easily.
There is a piece of copper tape wrapped around the digitizer cable that you have to remove to unplug the digitizer. Use a spatula and/or metal spatula to pry the tape up and down. Then go to the other side and find the edge of the copper tape and peel it back.

Once you have removed the tape from the front of the cable area You can continue to unplug the cable as the tape will come off.
While holding the logic board with one hand Use the pry tool in the other hand to gently Press the top of the cable lightly. until it exits the bottom of the logic board.
Remove any remaining copper tape on the old digital cable. We will install the new one in the next step.
You’ll need to follow this step if you don’t have a pre-assembled home button and camera shield instead of the LCD and digitizer you have. If not Use this procedure to transfer the home button and camera shield to a new assembly.

This is the trickiest part of DIY iPod screen replacement on newer iPods, as cables must be attached to the bottom of the logic board. It may take a few tries, so be patient and work slowly. then you will get it
This step is the hardest part. And don’t worry if you don’t do it the first time. just touch around connector and then gradually Pull it up until the cable snaps into place. when you get it go to the next step
Place the copper tape you removed from the old digitizer cable under the new cable that is now firmly seated. Double check to make sure you’re not upside down. Now hold it around the cable with your finger.
Once you have the digitizer cable firmly in place, You can go ahead and gradually Push the logic board down and back into place and secure the rear camera again.
Ipod Nano 7th Gen Screen Repair & Disassemble
Check around the frame to make sure all screw holes are aligned correctly. It also doesn’t hurt to press firmly on the digitizer cable to make sure it’s in place.
Once you’ve put the top 3 screws in place. You can also replace the logic shield board. Put it back in place with the 8 screws you removed earlier. when you put it back in place You can push the copper tab on the top right as well.
Place the camera mounting clip back onto the copper tape you removed and screw it in place.
Now is a good time to test the digitizer before applying any glue. Just clip the LCD cable on top of the logic board coming out of the new assembly and gently slide it over the component.

Now press the power button to make sure it’s on. When the slide to unlock screen appears Swipe your finger and make sure the touch screen responds.

If the touch screen is unresponsive, remove the 3 screws at the top of the logic board again. and make sure the cables under the logic board are completely tight.
If the LCD does not turn on and you know the cable is tight Indicates that you may have assembled the wrong part. Disassemble and request a replacement from the person you ordered.

Double-check before gluing on the assembly to make sure you’ve removed any excess glue. and there were no broken glass or crumbs in the frame.
If you bought a ready-made glue kit put the glue on the assembly. Be careful not to get glue on the digitizer or LCD cable.
If you cut the glue, trim the edges and peel off the old glue. Use the image below as a guide to place the harness.
It’s always a good idea to run the heat gun on the iPod touch last and sand it down to the edges to be sure.
