If you live with a cat, chances are your horizontal blindfold has been used as a chewing toy. This damage may also make your blinds unusable because either the cords are already too short or there are knots blocking them.
I had five sets of blinds with this problem and decided to repair them rather than buy new ones. And I’ll show you how I did it. It may seem like a daunting task, but it’s easy and helpful to fix blinds that aren’t wrong with anything else.

We searched for a suitable anchorage in many places. Lowe’s and Home Depot didn’t sell it and recommended Blind’s specialty store which we avoid because they will probably pay a fair amount for it. We finally went to Joann Fabrics and checked out their upholstery/decor section and found a polyester rug in the right size. It was white and didn’t match the color of our blinds, but we don’t care.

Use your old ropes. If you have lost them, you can use fancy mouses or decorative bows or a combination of these. They add weight to the bottom of the bands so they hang nicely and provide support for pulling.

When you are at the other end, open the loop and finish the end of the locking mechanism. Make sure your cord is at the back of the bar.
Tie a square knot in the tail near the end and put it and the extra tape in the hole and replace the button.
Close the blind and repeat steps 2 to 4 on the other tracks. This time, to measure the length of the cord, simply measure against the first.
