This weekend’s discussion of the Sony a6300 made me think of the iPhone camera, and how fun it would be if used properly. Our Ben Lovejoy shared his best iPhone photo tips a few months ago, and now I want to share my 10 best iPhone photo tips.
It seems obvious, but you wouldn’t believe how many times I took a picture to see if my lens was spotted or dirty. Always check the lens of your iPhone for debris and spots. This is especially important for large iPhones, as the camera edge makes it easy to capture trash.

Also, while we are in the process of cleaning, make sure you clean your screen. If you are unable to see the frame properly due to stains, it may interfere with your ability to capture the image you want.
Ways To Improve Iphone Photography With The Stock Camera App
The iPhone has a fixed lens so it has no visible zoom. Digital zoom is not “zoom” at all. It’s just cutting the image and blasting it. This is why images taken with digital zoom are usually letters and are made in pixels. Digital zoom has its own functionality, but you should not use it in all shooting situations.
Instead of relying on digital zoom, get closer to your topic. This not only allows you to capture close-up objects, but also allows you to use the iPhone’s f / 2.2 aperture. Approaching and focusing on an object in front or behind creates a gap that allows that shallow depth of field.
Just because you have to avoid using digital zoom in your photos, doesn’t mean you can’t use the feature in a way that will benefit your photography. Use the digital zoom to focus somewhere on the frame, then zoom in again to take a picture.
Although the iPhone has a fixed hole, it is still possible to adjust the exposure manually, which is a way to change the ISO and shutter speed values. Unfortunately, there is no individual control over such values, and you just have to rely on exposure slides.

To adjust the exposure, tap to focus and slide up or down in the viewfinder. You will see the exposure slide move with your swipe, and you will see the image being overused, or not shown below, depending on which side you move the slide bar.
Instead of simply tapping to focus, tap and hold the viewer to turn off exposure and focus. While closed, you can use the exposure slide to change the display while keeping the focus closed.
Movement can be an enemy of still images, which is why it has features such as visual image enhancement. You can reduce movement while taking pictures by using the volume up buttons to take pictures. Even better, connect a pair of EarPods and use the volume buttons on the remote control to dial the shutter.

How To Fix Iphone Camera Not Working
If your subject is prone to motion, using blast mode can greatly increase your chances of taking a useful photo during your shooting session. Just tap and hold the close button to enter the explosion mode. You can also use the blast mode with the iPhone’s visual volume buttons, but you can’t use the blast mode with the EarPod remote control volume buttons.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) can be activated directly in the Camera application, and works by combining three images taken with three different exposure to create what he thinks is the “most appropriate” image. HDR works best in near-field environments with uncertain light conditions, or in light conditions when the surrounding lightning is very different from lightning in the case. Enable Auto HDR to make things easier, as iOS is great at judging when your photos can benefit from this setting.
Yes, there are many third-party apps designed to add additional features and functionality to the iPhone camera. For example, for video recorders there is the FiLMiC Pro, an excellent video-focused application that can do more than what the stock camera system can do. In photos, you can try something like ProCam 3, which offers great features for both still video and video recorders.

Ways To Fix Video Or Other Modes Disappeared From Iphone Camera App
If your camera shows a black screen when charging, slowing down, or lagging behind when tapping to take a picture, or you have some performance issues, first check if it is the Camera app itself. You can do this by introducing another app that uses iPhone cameras, such as FaceTime or Instagram.
Be sure to switch to both front and rear cameras in a non-camera app so you can fully diagnose performance. Steven John / Business Insider
If the camera is running on other apps, double-click the home button on the iPhone 8 or earlier, or swipe from the bottom of your screen on the iPhone X or later to swipe to the camera app and force it, then try the application again. If not, turn off your phone and wait a minute, then turn it on and try again.
If restarting your phone did not repair the camera, try updating it. Launch the Settings app and check out any iOS updates, which will appear at the top of the Settings screen.

Still not lucky? Then reset the phone. In the Settings application, go to General, then scroll down and press Restore. Tap the next screen Restore all settings and confirm.
