While most electric motorcycles use a mid-mounted motor to drive the rear wheels directly or via a reduction gear, SONDORS opted to use a rear hub motor for the Metacycle.
Tips On Selling Your Motorcycle
While heavier weights come with little performance cost, the Metacycle’s role as a commuter bike rather than a sport bike means most riders probably won’t be seriously hurt.
On the other hand, the hub motor design helps keep the overall cost of the bike down and create what could be the first affordable highway-capable electric motorcycle in the US.
According to SONDORS, the hub motor drive still uses a “custom-designed aluminum housing” and appears to offer a side-exit axle for the motor’s phase wires and sensors.
The engine is also IP67 dust and moisture resistant, meaning riders don’t have to worry about riding in the rain – at least not more than other bikes.

We are now also learning about a new ECO mode that will be available and limits engine speed to 62 mph (100 km/h). SPORT mode offers full power and maximum speed.
The engine is rated for a maximum peak power rating of 14kW (20hp), although ECO mode will likely limit that power.
Those who want to see the bike’s longer range will probably rely on the ECO mode in the city. A metacycle requires a maximum distance of 80 miles (130 km), although this is measured at lower speeds. Real-world range testing with a combination of high-speed and low-speed travel has shown real-life mixed range extrapolated to 60 miles (96 km) at an average speed of 45 mph (72 km/h).
SONDORS will also offer an extra battery for riders who want to go further. The 3kWh battery pack will be one of three optional accessories that can be added to the free space in the frame, in addition to the Tier 2 charger accessories and storage compartment.
Should You Buy A New Motorcycle Or Fix Up Your Old Ride?
While production and delivery of the Metacycle was originally scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, SONDORS actually got ahead of schedule and announced that the first bike would be available in the third quarter.

350 Honda improved the CA/CB/CL77 to create a model that would become one of Honda’s most popular models. It seems that in the late 60’s everyone had one, or at least had someone who knew one, and that’s because the CB350 was the world’s best-selling motorcycle in its first year, in 1968. a powerful 12-volt system, updated and modern styling, and a five-speed gearbox allows you to reach speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.
The CA77 is a touring version of the CB/CL77 with styling unlike any other road bike. The affordable price and excellent reliability that Honda quickly became known for were backed up by the Dream, and it became a youth favorite in the 60s. A stamped steel frame and fork, plus features like a closed chainring, make this bike great for a variety of weather and road conditions. However, this also led to many dreams being widely used in the elements. Today it is difficult to find good and original.
The Honda CL77 is the off-road cousin of the CB77 Superhawk and CA77 Dream; a whole network of bikes that share a great success. The CL77 features tall scrambler tubes, tall handlebars, and 19-inch wheels that allow it to move from city to desert with ease; so much so that many riders use the bike as their desert rider and it helps set the stage for the next lightweight rider.

More Honda! The Honda CB750 is the motorcycle that completely changed the American motorcycle market. While customers can choose reliability, speed and affordability but only choose two of them, the CB750 lets them choose all three. Honda was so unsure of future success that they did not want to invest in die casting, choosing sand casting instead, and the first 7414 motorcycle produced in 1969 had a former sand engine. By the end of 750 production, Honda had produced almost 450,000 units and cemented the CB750 as the first superbike available to the average person.
The CBX was not the first six-cylinder production motorcycle – honor went to Benelli Sei – but perhaps the most memorable. Honda has only been producing the bike for four years and has made it more touring oriented in the last two years. Despite a short production run, this proves that Honda is still willing to invest in radical motorcycles at a time when the company is becoming, in the opinion of some, too predictable.

With some of the most distinctive colors adorning their fenders – thanks to a merger with DuPont Motors – the Chief is the only known American motorcycle that isn’t a Harley-Davidson. The Knucklehead serves as a fun bike for soldiers returning from war and a workhorse for government employees. To this day, it remains one of Harley’s most coveted models.
