Removing wallpaper or tile can ruin drywall, but it can be fixed! I’ll show you how to restore torn drywall with Zinsser Gardz Surface Sealer and make it look like new again. During my DIY bathroom renovation, I removed a lot of tile from the walls. The drywall itself was fine, but all the paper was torn! Most of the surface was planned to be covered with new tiles, but some places had to be painted. I’ll show you how I repaired my torn drywall to match the rest of the walls! During the demolition, I used a scraper and hammer to tear all the ugly blue tile off the walls. It was pretty easy to see these tiles fall like dominoes and they were extremely pleased! But I’m putting this mess on drywall! Some of the thin parts were still stuck in place, and the rest was torn, peeling, and washed-out drywall. Here’s what you need to do to fix it! Torn Drywall Paper Scraper Tool Repair Materials Drywall Knife Drywall Sanding Sponge Ginseng Problem Surface Sealant Brush or Cheap Paint Brush Drywall Compound Wall Joiner Knife Wall Texture Spray (optional) Drywall Drywall Drywall Drywall Drywall Drywall Drywall Drywall Plasterboard for plasterboard And a way to hammer dry walls with dry wallpaper using a scraper tool. Be careful not to catch the entire paper with the razor blade. If you want, you can sand the bottom to round off the sharp corners. Here’s what this wall looked like with most of the loose parts removed. Don’t worry about tearing off every little piece. We will take care of the following. Patch the holes and smooth the edges. If you have holes in the bottom of the sanding plaster, remove any loose pieces and use a vacuum to remove the dust from the holes. Fill any yard or hole with joint compound slightly higher than the surrounding drywall. There is also a smooth transition between torn parts with intact drywall and more composite compounds. A large angled drywall knife helps to slowly change the surface instead of a ridge or bump. You can see how the joint compound is thick around the edges and the feathers stick out towards the center. I also patched a few holes in the drywall from the phone that was installed there before. When the joint compound is dry, sand the entire damaged area to remove the paper residue and smooth the surface. Apply Gardz Problem Surface Sealer Rapid Drywall Paper, which will make the paint look fuzzy, soft, and spongy. The joint compound can take paint differently than the rest of the walls, leaving a gap. ZinsserGardz Problem Surface Sealer solves all these problems! Ginseng protection tightens the surface of the damaged drywall, including any damaged spots filled with joint compound. Just paint it with a cheap brush and let it dry! The torn plasterboard paper makes the whole fondant hard as a rock. This prevents the grout from seeping through the paint and creating pits on the wall. This thing is magical! I put protective shields over all of the ripped drywall, even the areas that were going to be tiled. The sealant prevents the solution from getting wet on the wall and provides a strong foundation that will last over time. Apply sand or texture for a smooth finish. If desired, there is a texture to the surrounding drywall, you may want to match it to your patched area. There are many sprays that can help you replicate an existing finish. The texture will also help hide any imperfections in your makeover! If your walls are smooth, give the hardened drywall paper a quick sanding to remove any blemishes. Prime and Paint Ginseng Guards prevents sealer paint from seeping into your walls, but in the process it turns the brown drywall a darker color. The primer will help cover it up without spending a lot of time and money on expensive paint! After applying the primer on the wall, you won’t be able to tell where the plasterboard paper was torn!
