If it comes back it will come back but right now I can’t afford new rockers and sheet metal to replace the cab where it rusted. I just want to stop what I know and make it beautiful. And it took 17 years for it to be as bad as mine, if I had another 5 years I would be very happy with what I did

One thing you might want to do instead of going the way you started… Have you thought about making swing panels out of heavy duty rectangular or tubular steel and turning them into a slide? You could probably pick up scrap steel from your metal shop for less than $100. Remove the rust from the inside of the rocker arm and paint it with POR15, plug the ends of the steel, weld it to the body and some legs to the frame.
I didn’t think about the screen. What you say makes sense about water retention and what not. I cut holes and dug out the foam because it didn’t work the way I thought it would anyway
As for the slider, that sounds like a good idea, but I just thought it was a bad idea because it doesn’t bend the cab unlike the frame and cause cracking. I’m not saying you’re wrong, you’re just wondering

The hood has been sanded before, I talked to my boss and he is going to help me spray the truck to make it look better than rolling.
If you really want to, fill the hole with pool dough and foam. At least pool noodles don’t hold water. Most dollar stores will still have some in the back. I think it says wear gloves on the box for the big stuff. Somehow this classic thread reminds me of the Explorer forum:

Can I sand and paint? or should it be cut out and filled with body filler? Let me know if there is anything written about this.
You won’t know the extent of the rust until you start removing the paint and rust. Be prepared for some perforations. If the holes are small, a basic fiberglass repair can be successful. But you’ll need some basic body skills to look good. Good news….. Rockers is a place where if it’s not perfect, it’s hard to tell. Explore and learn his techniques here. It’s an art.
I almost want to say that someone has already done some work. Is this too much spray on the seam? I have never done body work in years. I had surface rust issues on an ’00 that I bought cheap. Orlo is right that it is art. He tried to do things right. He did the research. Watched a few videos. He used rattles. The point is, I smoked. My boyfriend says I can’t touch rattle boxes anymore. It will probably be professionally done in the spring. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t be.
You can either patch it and not worry about it, or if you want it to look unrepaired, you’ll need to cut out the rusted metal and bend the patch to fit the size of the hole. it is best to cut a nice square hole.
