How Much Am I Looking At To Fix Rust Spots & Prevent Future Issues?
To fix the rust holes in your car, you need to remove the rust completely first. Remove all the paint around the hole with a wire brush from the drill. You will also need to cut the affected metal with a grinder or tin can. After cutting the metal, cover the hole with wax paper and apply a mixture of fiberglass filler and hardener. Let the mixture dry for about an hour, then remove the wax paper. You can also sand the patch with 220 grit sandpaper to remove blemishes. For tips on how to keep the place from rusting again, keep reading! Does anyone have any idea how much it will cost to fix this? Also, once fixed, is there a solution to the wheel problem that doesn’t cancel out the look of the car? Basically, I want to avoid mudflaps.
I’ve gotten some good DIY advice from another forum about a bell slide, but haven’t heard anything about wheel bumps, other than getting something to protect it again. Accordingly, am I looking for professional work only for these areas?
1- Glue a small piece of sandpaper (soft sandpaper) to sanding out rust on the tip of a pencil eraser. Try sanding / removing the loose ‘edges’ of the foil
5- Soak the sand and soften it if necessary. Use as little of each product as possible. There is nothing worse than a large touch vault.

In my 740, which I just picked up, it has rusty rust on the bottom of two of the four doors and the rust starts in the back corners of the other two doors. I also have a small spot of rust on the passenger’s rear quarter. It all cost me $1100 to fix it. In the worst of two doors, the metal is cut and re-welded to prevent it from happening again. It is well worth the repair.
The bell repairs mentioned above should work fairly well and, if done correctly, will be invisible. Given the location of the front wheel wells, you can cover at least the bur-15 areas to slow rust. It won’t look great, but it’s a well hidden area if you stay “inside” the rim of the well.
Of course, I was very disappointed in the POR-15. If I really wanted to protect this area, I would paint it like I described above and put some clearbra in that area.
The cannon seems to be repairable. At the body store, you probably have $500 or more. Maybe they want to draw the whole bell.

Fender’s place might be better with new panels, like ~$700 for painted protection. Alternatively, if they fix it and paint it, and wrap it that way at the end of the board, there’s a bit of luck and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in 1-3 years.
Alternatively, you can get a Dremel with a soft wire wheel (be careful!) to clean up the rust, then paint the small bottles with primer and clean the area. It may not sound great, but it can significantly slow down your progress. You will probably want to remove the condoms (or at least the liners) so they can get in too, or maybe they’ll be back in a month or two.
There are many YMMV printers/rust inhibitors, but the main thing you can do is remove the existing rust and cover the metal.
Several years ago I met a number of people who specialize in airbrushed paint at high-end retail stores, and I once owned a car. Airbrush results were much higher than touch-up paint. This could be an option for the bell, as the defenders seem to need a bit more work.

Or, if you don’t have a time machine, I’ll carefully check the bonnet every time I change the oil and touch new stone chips before turning them on that thread.
I have a wardrobe ready, and now I need a nice weekend to finish it. Last minute advice? I guess I need better/different sanding options, but that should be easy – plus the two dremel attachments I bought?

To make sure you’re familiar with how Auto Touchup products work, I’m looking for a source for a project I have.

It is impossible to avoid rust, because iron, the primary component of steel, is a natural chemical process that occurs when it comes into contact with moisture and oxygen. Earth’s atmosphere is rich in water and oxygen, a common component of our ecosystem. Any steel exposed to air will rust due to a process called oxidation.
However, some types of steel require a longer time than others to rust. In addition, modern cars are made of durable galvanized steel with a corrosion-resistant material.
Painting your car also plays a major role in preventing rust damage. It physically prevents oxygen and water from contacting its hard surface.
In general, while you wax your car regularly and take care of it, you probably won’t have to worry too much about rust. But if you have an old car that you want to repair, or if your car has been rusting for several months, there are some ways to fix the wear without replacing it.
